Budgie food: basic and breeding mixes
Here you will find budgie food as a ready-made seed mix, as individual seed varieties for supplementing and as egg food for rearing, plus grit, minerals and bird sand. The Deli Nature mixes come in 20 kg sacks: Deli Nature Nr. 51 Wellensittich Basis as a basic mix, plus Nr. 67 and Nr. 74 Superchamp, put together with breeder Daniel Lütolf. For a seed mix for sprouting, we offer Prestige Keimfutter Sittiche & Exoten.
What do budgies eat? Seeds, millet, greens
Budgies mainly eat small seeds: millet of various kinds and canary seed. A seed mix forms the basis of a budgie's diet. Many keepers also offer fresh greens such as herbs or lettuce. Provide fresh drinking water in the cage every day.
Spray millet and egg food as extras
Yellow spray millet and red spray millet are available in 1 kg and 5 kg. Spray millet is offered on the stalk; the birds pick off the grains themselves. During the breeding season, breeders supplement the grains with egg food, such as Quiko Eifutter Classic or Deli Nature Eifutter Wellensittiche. Offer grit and minerals in a separate bowl and place bird sand with lime and anise on the cage floor.
Large packs for breeders
Individual seed varieties are available in 2.5 kg bags, among others, and spray millet in 1 kg. Deli Nature Nr. 51 is a feed mix in a 20 kg sack; loose millet is an individual seed variety. Compare the composition, pack size and current unit price. Store seeds in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
