Due to its special composition, Immun-o-flash® can have a positive metabolic influence on strengthening the immune system.

Immunity is invisible. Nevertheless, the immune system is immensely important for the body. It protects the body from influences in the living environment. It detects threats from harmful microorganisms and viruses. It is very important to do everything possible to support the functionality of the immune system.

As is well known, the immune system cannot constantly operate at peak performance. It requires a build-up phase as well as a rest phase. Constant stimuli eventually dull the immune system, causing it to become uncontrolled or cease to function fully. The result would be an increased susceptibility to viral infections.

In the pet sector, the following virus types play a particularly important role:

APV virus (Avian Polyomavirus): causes very high nestling mortality, especially in birds. This virus, previously known mainly in small parakeets, is now also spreading rapidly among canaries and wild birds. To my knowledge, it has not yet been reported to spread to pigeon populations. However, the possibility exists.

PBFD virus (Circovirus): is known for feather and beak diseases. Young birds lose some of their tail and flight feathers while nestlings. These feathers partially grow back later, but after a certain period, they are lost again. This creates a vicious cycle. In racing pigeons, "Circoviruses" are associated with the so-called "young pigeon disease."

PDD virus (Borna virus): is responsible for proventriculus ductus arteriosus, a condition that is usually fatal in parrots and parakeets. This type of virus is particularly difficult to treat with medication, generally without success.

Manufacturer's statement: Immun-o-flash® was initially intended as a targeted solution to a problem that had plagued me for over two decades. I had repeatedly encountered the polyomavirus in my birds. At some point—many years ago—I'd had enough, as numerous suggestions (including a long breeding break) failed to bring the desired results. The breakthrough came from combining immune-relevant building blocks from natural food sources. It wasn't the immunoglobulins from dairy cows, nor the diverse components of oregano. The experiences of many users in the bird and pigeon sector have piqued my interest in recent years. Beyond the initially intended targeted use of Immun-o-flash, many other interesting applications have emerged.

Application

Immun-o-flash® is a dietary supplement, not a medicine. It can only provide metabolic support. Therefore, in problematic herds, the biological medicine PT-12 (active ingredient: Lactobacillus salivarius) should be used concurrently for at least 10 days. Immun-o-flash® can also be administered over a longer period. The duration of use always depends on the goals being pursued with Immun-o-flash® and which functional areas are to be addressed.

Application in the target animal species

Ornamental birds

Parent and breeding animals: receive Immun-o-flash® via their grain, soft, or sprouted feed for approximately three weeks. After a three-week break, Immun-o-flash® is administered again for 7–14 days. To further prevent irritation caused by the known APV virus, treatment should begin at least three weeks before egg laying. It is important that treatment continues throughout the entire laying period. This application can be repeated several times a year without concern.

Young birds: Newly hatched chicks from the first clutch generally receive Immun-o-flash® for at least 10 days via their parents' feed. Administration to chicks from the second and third broods may be beneficial in cases of viral irritation. Special attention should be paid to the occurrence of the PBFD virus (feather disease). To prevent the loss of tail and flight feathers, Immun-o-flash® should be used as a supportive measure throughout the entire rearing period. This means that the parent birds receive Immun-o-flash® from the first day of the chicks' lives until they fledge (over the entire nestling or nest box phase).

Administering the re-scha products “Fruit Mash” and “Tarsin” simultaneously in equal parts has proven very effective in practice.

Carrier pigeons

Strengthening the immune system of parent animals can have a positive effect on their offspring. Therefore, the parent animals should be given Immun-o-flash® first. Administering Immun-o-flash® before the mating season has proven effective. Immun-o-flash® is given for approximately 2-3 weeks before breeding begins. Ideally, the administration should coincide with the egg-laying period. This application can be repeated several times a year without concern, even with a shorter treatment period.

Young birds: Newly hatched young birds are given Immun-o-flash® via their parents' feed for a period of 7-14 days. Simultaneous administration of PT-12 should not be forgotten during this phase. Weaned young pigeons receive Immun-o-flash® at irregular intervals (every 6-8 weeks) for a period of 7-14 days. In cases of irritation with the so-called "young bird disease," the young pigeons receive Immun-o-flash® for a period of at least 14 days, starting at least 8 weeks before the start of the young bird racing season. Simultaneous administration of PT-12 is highly recommended in this context.

Racing pigeons (old and young): receive Immun-o-flash® approximately 4-6 weeks before the start of the racing season for a period of 2-3 weeks. The administration of Immun-o-flash® should be completed approximately one week before the start of the training flights. During the racing season, Immun-o-flash® can provide a boost. It is therefore advisable to use Immun-o-flash® if the racing pigeons have completed an extremely difficult flight or are experiencing a physical slump. This application is safe three to four times during the racing season, over a period of 2-3 days (beginning to middle of the week).

Terrarium animals, small rodents and ornamental rabbits

A functioning immune system can react much more effectively to stimuli from the living environment. The immune system is challenged by transport stress, changes in diet, or physical exertion, which often occurs in breeding facilities, but also during skin and dandruff growth and shedding. Terrarium animals, small rodents, and ornamental rabbits initially receive Immun-o-flash® in their food for approximately three weeks as an initial dose. After a break of approximately three weeks, Immun-o-flash® is administered again for approximately one week. This application can be repeated several times a year: the longer the interval between applications, the longer the duration of treatment.

Dosage and administration

The recommended dosage is approximately 8-10g per kg of seed mix. If administering via sprouted or rearing feed (for birds!), the dosage should be increased. When administering via sprouted or rearing feed, the dosage should be adjusted to ensure general feed acceptance.

No negative effects of an overdose (even over a longer period) on animal health are currently known.

One level scoop contains 3g of Immun-o-flash®. This means: 3 scoops/kg of grain feed correspond to the recommended dosage.
The best way to bind Immun-o-flash® to the feed is with re-scha's "Frutin". However, for single applications per bird, it is also possible to simply sprinkle Immun-o-flash® into the feed or mix it in dry. Detailed mixing instructions can also be found in the "Frutin Instructions for Use".
