Roten Kolbenhirse 5kg – Ein Leckerbissen für Ziervögel!

Die Hauptanbaugebite der Roten Kolbenhirse liegen in China, Mittelasien, Afghanistan und Indien. Sie wird auch in Südostasien, Südosteuropa, Südafrika und Australien angebaut.
Sie wächst auf nährstoffreichen Lehm- und Sandböden
Für viele Vögel scheint es kaum etwas Schmackhafteres zu geben als Kolbenhirse und wird mit Begeisterung angenommen.
Bei der Roten Kolbenhirse handelt es sich um nicht gedroschene Fruchtstände. Die Samen, also Körnchen, befinden sich somit noch in ihrer natürlichen „Verpackung“. Somit müssen sich die Vögel ihr Futter noch ein wenig erarbeiten. Sie müssen die Körnchen einzeln aus dem Fruchtstand, also dem Kolben, klauben. Daher ist dies gewissermaßen eine naturnahe Futteraufnahme.
Gerade die kleinen Samen der Hirse locken Kleinvögel wie Spatzen, Finken, Stieglitze und Heckenbraunellen an. Ein Leckerbissen für alle Ziervögel wie Wellensittiche, Nymphensittiche, Exoten und Papageien.

Anwendung

Fütterungsempfehlung: Die Kolbenhirse den Vögeln in kleinen Mengen, als Leckerbissen anbieten.
Hirse enthält relativ wenig Fett. In 100 g Hirse stecken durchschnittlich maximal 4 g Fett – Sonnenblumenkerne bringen es hingegen auf etwa 50 g Fett pro 100 g. Obwohl die Hirse vergleichsweise fettarm ist, kann sie bei den Vögeln zu Übergewicht führen. Der Grund dafür ist, dass viele Tiere sie häufig in sehr großen Mengen verzehren, wenn sie die Möglichkeit dazu haben. Daher sollte Kolbenhirse lediglich in kleinen Mengen, als gelegentlicher Leckerbissen gereicht werden.
Würden Vögel täglich große Mengen Kolben- oder Rispenhirse fressen dürfen, dann würden viele von ihnen das andere Futter verschmähen und nur noch die beliebte Hirse zu sich nehmen. Relativ bald würde dies zu einem erheblichen Nährstoffmangel führen, weil die Ernährung zu einseitig wäre.

The main growing areas for red millet are in China, Central Asia, Afghanistan, and India. It is also cultivated in Southeast Asia, Southeast Europe, South Africa, and Australia.

It grows on nutrient-rich clay and sandy soils.

For many birds, there seems to be hardly anything more palatable than millet sprays, and they accept them with great enthusiasm.

Red millet consists of unthreshed seed heads. The seeds, or grains, are therefore still in their natural "packaging." This means the birds have to work a little for their food, picking the grains individually from the seed head. Therefore, this is a more natural feeding method.

The tiny seeds of millet are particularly attractive to small birds such as sparrows, finches, goldfinches, and dunnocks. They are also a treat for all pet birds, including budgies, cockatiels, exotic birds, and parrots.

Feeding recommendation: Offer the millet sprays to the birds in small quantities as a treat.

Millet is relatively low in fat. On average, 100g of millet contains a maximum of 4g of fat – sunflower seeds, on the other hand, contain about 50g of fat per 100g. Although millet is comparatively low in fat, it can lead to obesity in birds. This is because many birds consume it frequently in very large quantities when given the opportunity. Therefore, millet sprays should only be offered in small amounts as an occasional treat.

If birds were allowed to eat large quantities of millet sprays or panicles daily, many would reject other foods and consume only the popular millet. Relatively quickly, this would lead to a significant nutrient deficiency because their diet would be too monotonous.
