Tollisan Immunol 500g
Supplementary feed for pigeons
In the late 1990s, I was one of the first in Germany to recognize the advantages of high-quality, animal-based protein rich in immunoglobulins for racing pigeons. The term "animal protein" was likely first coined by me in the context of pigeon racing. As the originator of this modern protein supplementation method, I have always emphasized that the birds must be fed easily digestible food, without peas, during the first few days.
The addition of Tollyamin (high-dose amino acids) and the high-quality Immunol allows the pigeons to regenerate as quickly as possible. Muscle building is completed within 48 hours, and weight loss is rapidly compensated for. Over the course of a racing season lasting several weeks, especially during challenging races, pigeons treated in this way have a decisive performance advantage.
Previously, the Immunol mixture contained non-specific immunoglobulins (IgG) derived from colostrum (cows' first milk). However, a new, modern variant of specific immunoglobulins (IgY) from egg powder prompted me to significantly improve the mixture.
The following people participated in this decision-making process:
| Reiner Mecking | Dostofarm |
| Silke Berding | EW Nutrition |
| Günter Prange | AS pigeon breeders from Meppen |
| Dr. Vincent Schroeder | Vet. Schroeder-Tollisan |
| Johannes Jakobs | Vet. Schroeder-Tollisan |
The new Immunol blend contains valuable animal protein from egg powder, which is extra rich in IgY immunoglobulins. Egg powder is a valuable source of animal protein. It has a high biological value of 100% and an ideal amino acid profile. Egg immunoglobulins support a healthy gut flora.
The avian antibodies in egg powder, also called IgY (immunoglobulins from yolk), are located in the egg yolk. They have an important passive immune function and bind to pathogenic bacteria and viruses. After the formation of antigen-antibody complexes, the disease-causing germs are excreted in the feces.
The growing knowledge about egg antibodies has led to a new development in IgY technology. In addition to the non-specific antibodies described above, it is now possible to produce special egg powder containing specific IgY antibodies. This involves producing specific egg antibodies by hyperimmunizing chickens through multiple vaccinations and then collecting their eggs to produce antibody-rich egg powder. This approach is similar to our flock-specific E. coli vaccine.
This new idea of specific IgY antibodies for racing pigeons has been implemented in the new egg powder in Immunol. Our antibody-rich egg powder contains specific racing pigeon antibodies against:
E. coli - Salmonella - Circoviruses - Rotaviruses - Cryptosporidium - Coccidia - Clostridia
These specific IgY antibodies from racing pigeons have a very high binding capacity and act primarily in the intestine. This is also known as the lock-and-key principle.
The new Immunol is therefore not only a high-quality animal protein mixture but also a very effective preventative mixture against young bird disease. Furthermore, lactose, which is harmful to racing pigeons (Powerplay!!), has been removed from our mixture. Particularly high levels of lactose are a common cause of gastrointestinal problems and diarrhea.
Immunol also contains fructo-oligosaccharides, or FOS for short. These prevent pathogenic bacteria from adhering to the intestinal wall. Benign intestinal bacteria use fructo-oligosaccharides as food. Fructo-oligosaccharides are the only substances that meet all the criteria of an effective prebiotic.
The third ingredient in Immunol is whey powder. Whey powder contains vitamins and minerals, as well as unsurpassed protein quality. Bodybuilders, in particular, utilize this high protein quality to provide their muscles with optimal power. But be careful! The lactose contained in whey powder has been removed from Immunol. This is very important because poultry cannot digest large amounts of this sugar. Therefore, you should feed your pigeons Immunol and not bodybuilder powder (Powerplay).
Here's how to use Tollisan Immunol:
1. On the day of return (for both old and young birds), add WG-Ropa feed oil to the feed morning and evening and dry it with Tollisan Immunol. The duration of Tollisan Immunol treatment depends on the severity of the flight (2 to 3 days). Since the birds need to detoxify, feed them light feed with plenty of barley and no legumes (beans, peas, vetch). Tollisan Immunol replaces 100% of the missing protein in the feed. If you still feed legumes, you will be overfeeding the pigeons. This is one of the biggest mistakes during the racing season. The amino acids lysine and methionine contained in Immunol also improve protein digestion, and the performance mineral phosphorus further promotes energy metabolism. For pigeons that return from the race a few days late and are emaciated, you can administer Immunol dissolved in water directly into the crop (1 teaspoon of Immunol, 1/2 cup of lukewarm water, several times).
2. In the breeding loft, administer Immunol twice a week, as described above. However, only do this when the breeding pigeons are feeding young, not when they are sitting on eggs, otherwise they will become overweight.
3. Give weaned young animals that are not yet traveling Immunol with their food twice a week. This helps prevent young animal disease. Additionally, give these young animals the new Dosto-WG-RopAdeno in their drinking water every day until the start of the racing season.
Products like Tollisan Immunol are indispensable in modern pigeon racing. Even though immunoglobulins cannot always prevent young bird disease, which is a complex issue, they offer strong preventative protection. In combination with the new Dosto-WG-RopAdeno, the preventative effect reaches almost 100 percent. However, one must be aware of the protein concentration to achieve a meaningful increase in form on race day.
