Carob belongs to the legume family and is primarily cultivated in the Mediterranean region. The black seeds are enclosed in a pod up to 30 cm long, which is dried and processed into pieces after harvesting. It has a very pleasant texture and is therefore well-suited for various animals. Its sweet taste makes it readily accepted.
