Product description

Liquid supplementary feed for pigeons to increase the oxygen concentration in the blood
Iron, as an important component of the blood pigment hemoglobin, enables red blood cells to transport oxygen. Hemoglobin binds inhaled oxygen and transports it to the body cells. Especially during phases of high physical exertion, such as racing, breeding, and moulting, the need for iron is increased. In young pigeons, which increase their body weight by more than a hundredfold in the first weeks of life and thus have to produce a lot of blood and hemoglobin, iron deficiency anemia is one of the most common deficiency symptoms. The immediate consequence is a hemoglobin deficit, which leads to an insufficient supply of oxygen to the entire organism. In addition, other important metabolic processes are inhibited in addition to oxygen transport to the cells.
Racing pigeons derive their flight energy primarily from fat metabolism. The provision of energy from fat metabolism requires many times more oxygen than the carbohydrate metabolism predominantly used by humans. This illustrates how important a sufficiently high hemoglobin concentration in the blood is for pigeons. Energy in the form of fat, carbohydrates, and protein, as well as vitamins, minerals, and trace elements, are sufficiently available to pigeons through a balanced diet. The presence of a sufficiently high oxygen concentration in the blood during the race thus becomes a performance-determining factor, especially for endurance performance.
Active iron promotes blood formation, specifically increases the number of red blood cells, and boosts hemoglobin content. This increases the oxygen concentration in the blood and accelerates oxygen transport to the cells. This initially leads to an increase in condition, training performance, and ultimately to a natural increase in performance in races.
Given today's demands on modern racing pigeons, the iron requirement and iron supply must be re-evaluated, because even visually healthy pigeons can be significantly revitalized by regular iron supplementation.
Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract make iron absorption difficult. Too low acidity of the gastric juice, for example, or mucosal changes in the upper small intestine, as well as infestation with harmful bacteria, can be reasons for this. Therefore, care should be taken to keep the natural intestinal flora of racing pigeons intact. Furthermore, in old pigeons, the bioavailability of iron is reduced to approx. 10%, while young pigeons can utilize up to 90% of the iron from the feed. Therefore, a correspondingly high dosage must be strictly adhered to.
1000 ml of Active Iron contain 22,000 mg of a specifically organically bound iron. This special organically bound form of iron is best absorbed and utilized by the pigeon organism in direct comparison to other iron preparations.

Application

Application Notes: Active Iron should always be used when pigeons are subjected to particular physical strain. Especially during the racing season, Active Iron should be administered via drinking water at least twice a week. It is ideal to administer Active Iron 2-3 times a week 3-4 weeks before the racing season to fill the pigeons' iron reserves early on. Depending on the physical strain, it is recommended to give 5 ml of Active Iron per 1-2 liters of water or 1-2 kg of feed for 25 pigeons per day.
